Documentation and Improving the Timelines

This week we’re mostly wrapping up our work before the break. My team mate worked on documentation while I spent time learning more about Webpack and Babel, the JavaScript tooling we’re using to “compile” our programs. As the semester went on, I’ve lost my mental picture of how they work (they’re considered quite hard to understand for those new to modern JS development) but luckily after reviewing by building a small React program from scratch, I got a better grip on how it works.

We’ll be adding more to the Timeline component of our VAT (Visual Analysis Tool). I’m creating the ability for the user to get more detailed info about an event on the time line by clicking on it, which will pop up a “modal”, similar to our User Guide. This work isn’t done, I have to refactor some code to get it working right, and once it’s working, we’ll be improving how the Timeline looks too (icons, etc).
